IKEA | A Retailer's Way Into 3D

IKEA Communications AB in Sweden will present the challenge for a retailer to take on photographic renderings of indoor homes for Catalog and Web. Martin will share the progress from the first stumbling steps of creating product images to large volumes of full room sets that is used alongside traditionally created studio photos for the catalog and on the web. During the session Martin will show the model/material and texture standard plus internal tools IKEA has built.

Industrial Light & Magic | Building Fictional Aircrafts in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Using concept art only and a library of parts, ILM artists built up the amazing Helicarriers in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Johan Thorngren will reveal how a 3ds Max, Katana and V-Ray pipeline helped the team achieve amazingly realistic results. Johan will discuss how a pre-release of V-Ray for Katana was integrated in ILM’s lighting pipeline.

Digital Domain | Rendering Heavy Assets: X-Men’s RFK Stadium

In his presentation, Alex will talk about some of the brilliant destruction Digital Domain created on X-Men: Days of Future Past. He will be focusing on the 1970's White House sequence as well as the upheaval of RFK stadium.  Alex will discuss the process of building these assets, and the advantages of V-Ray when handling the incredibly heavy renders of those massive destruction's.

Digital Domain | Skin, Hair and Cloth on "Maleficent"

In this presentation Jonathan will discuss the pipeline and techniques used at Digital Domain on "Maleficent" to render humanoid characters in V-Ray. This was the first major film at DD to push hero organic characters through V-Ray, with everything from close-up facial animation to complex hair styles to flowing wardrobes. Jonathan will break down the entire process, including discussion of what components were used out of the box from Chaos Group and what was developed in-house using Chaos’ SDKs.

Method Studios | Blockbuster VFX: Behind the scenes of Divergent and Transformers: Age of Extinction

Join Method Studios Head of Software Blake Sweeney and CG Supervisor Sean Schur for a discussion regarding the studio's work on the recent blockbusters Divergent and Transformers: Age of Extinction. Blake will demonstrate the techniques behind a host of invisible effects including the epic 'mirror room' sequence in Divergent with exclusive clips from the film and will reveal how the studio benefits from V-Ray's advanced raytracing capabilities.

Kevin Margo's Work at Blur Studio and his Short Film, CONSTRUCT

Kevin will showcase some of the latest work from Blur Studio, including the Batman Arkham Knight cinematic trailer and prologue from Thor: The Dark World. He'll illustrate how V-Ray enables the studio to manage massive full CG scenes in bulk on their cinematics, dialing up all the features and settings demanded of it, while at the same time achieving the naturalism and integration required in live action VFX work. He'll also discuss recent progress on the creative and tech front with his independent short film "CONSTRUCT".
